Re: Doctor Doom Fantastic and other cool pieces
Sun, August 7, 2005 - 11:55 PMHi Jon,
Welcome to the tribe, its a bit slow right now. I just changes scheduals so I dont get as much time to comment anymore.
As for my collection, I started with Indy adn colelcted the entire set, and well, over the last couple years I have ended up with the entire line. I am currently only short a Wolvie and a Professor X in the Purple ring versions to complete all my sets.
Now granted I am right here in Seattle, I spend time at the WK main office and Im currently a LV 5 envoy dealign with the new demo program, going live with it at GenCon. BTW if anyone is at GenCon come by and say hi.
For me I have a variety of figures that I prefer to use, my current playteam is:
U Promethius
U Hellboy
LE Search and Destroy Johnny Alpha
U Etrigan
V Paramedic
Alfred POG
This team has some great powers available to it, especially being abel to mimic the Batman TA and the Mystic TA and lets not forget the 2000AD TA. So far this team has gone undefeated with my regular game partner, he puts together a variety of teams adn then brings them over to see how well they will do before the weekly Approved Play game.
Depending on the point total for the game I will add in the feat cards, In Contact with Oracle and Shakeoff or Double Time.
So have you seen the clix builder 3d terrain for the Doom Castle? Just in case you havent: www.clixbuilders.com/
So other than building around Doom, have you created any other Theme Teams? We just had a TA battle where all figures in the team at 500 points had to be from the same TA, it was rather interesting to see the Batman TA and the Ultimates TA against each other :)
Good Gaming

Re: Doctor Doom Fantastic and other cool pieces
Mon, August 8, 2005 - 5:25 AMI'm somewhere between you guys. I'm not out to get a complete set of anything... but I do want the characters I want; which it turns out are most of them. I also have a huge collection; but I still want many, many more.
I'm really into customizing. So I try to make mods of obscure characters that Wizkids win't make. but sometimes there's just too good an oppurtunity to mod something and I do it anyway, even if its likly they'll make it in the next set.
I love to mod my R/E/V sets to reflect the costume changes of a character over the years too.
read my 3D terrain article to get an idea.
as for the peices I use alot:
LE Atom
V Johnny Alpha
V Lobster Johnson
Alfred
can often be seen on my team, but I collect more than I play so I'm always playing peices I've never feilded before just to play them. then of course I lose. that's really what I'm good at. losing. -

Re: Doctor Doom Fantastic and other cool pieces
Mon, August 8, 2005 - 1:01 PMat the Time Indy was released its rules set was the most up to date; but now its old. All the rules are the same from set to set; but they all use the most recent rules set which you can get on the wizkid's site:
www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/
Indyclix are super cheap because nobody wants them. For a new collector I would suggest them. there are some cool peices in the set; the most sought after being the Hellboy unique, and there are a lot of cheap blade claws fangs characters; good for backup attackers.
there's a store here in town that sells boosters for $2. I bet you could find them around that price online somewhere. -

Re: Doctor Doom Fantastic and other cool pieces
Mon, August 8, 2005 - 10:53 PMby the way; they just released the most recent rules to date today, well before the set that will contain them; on their website.
look on the DC Branch of the site and go to the Icons Preveiw page. The links are midway down on the far right.
